Townsend Street improvement project under way

Ada —  

City construction crews are making improvements to two blocks of South Townsend Street for approximately the next six to eight weeks.

The northbound lane of Townsend Street – between 12th and 13th streets – is closed to traffic for approximately two weeks. Southbound traffic in this block will be allowed during the same timeframe.

Beginning approximately Monday, April 8, the northbound lane will re-open and the southbound lane will close to traffic for approximately two weeks.

After the 200 block of South Townsend is completely opened, work will shift one block south, between 13th and 14th streets. During this next phase, both lanes of that block will be closed, but the intersections at both ends will remain open.

Once the 300 block of South Townsend re-opens in early May, crews will begin work on the intersection of 13th and Townsend.

Weather permitting, this entire project should be completed by the last part of May.
