Fun Country Area Special Olympics hosts art, music festival

The National Defense report was given by Elizabeth Witherow. She mentioned that March is Women’s History Month and gave some information concerning women who serve in the nation’s military forces.   

Kathy Howry, membership committee chairman, reported there are several prospective members.

Myrtie Clarke, chairman of the Women’s Issues committee, introduced the guest speaker, Lila Luper, director of infection control at Valley View Regional Hospital. Luper discussed three main areas of women’s health:  screening tests, including recommendations concerning age and frequency; regular checkups and the importance of family medical history; and vaccines for adults, including flu, shingles, TDAP, and pneumonia.  She stated that additional information could be found on the Website www.women’shealth.gov.

Members voted to  give $45 toward the purchase of the District basket for the State Convention.  The motion was approved unanimously. 

Regent Hill reminded members to bring large-sized “Sweats for Vets” to the April meeting.  These will be given to the Muskogee and Oklahoma City VA Medical Centers.

Hostesses for the meeting were Linda Leach, Jean Kelley, Arletta Good, Erna Leach, and Marian Paniagua.

Next meeting will be Guest Day Luncheon April 13 at noon.
