Ada —

The organiztion's state convention is in Tulsa. Because of Pontotoc County's membership, this organization qualifies for 10 delegates.  Those members planning to attend the state convention will be local delegates.

The table decorations were definitely “St. Patrick” themed.  Green derbies, shamrocks, flowers, and pots of “gold coins” were everywhere.  Abby Phillips, June Murphy, and Jean Lyon were the leprechauns who wove this magic. One center piece was given to the guest speaker and the other was won by Oma Tatum.

Next meeting is April 19 with OREA Executive Director Norman Cooper conducting the program. District Director Ada Hill will also be in attendance.

Attending were Ruth Ann Taylor, Jo Ann Hunt, Abby Phillips, Jean Lyon, Judy Hisaw, June Murphy, Shirley Boren, Monte Surber, Faye Cook, Barbara Langley, Elmer Gerth, Peggy Wallace, Sandra Mantooth, Oma Tatum, Aggie Allen, Tommie Beddow, Lee Sweat, Bryna Lane, Lanny Sliger, Betty Allred, Sue Jaquess, Nyta Ballard, Doris Barrick, Charles Barrick, Tom Stephens, Janet Gibson, Judy Hanson, Jo Hale and Hazel Miller.

Daughters of the American Revolution Chimney Hill Chapter met March 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Ada Arts and Heritage Building.

The opening ritual was led by Regent Dana Hill, assisted by Jessie Glover, chaplain, who gave the opening prayer.  Lorraine Hooker led the Pledge of Allegiance, Vickie Lee led The American’s Creed, and The Star Spangled Banner was led by Rita Floyd.

The President General’s message, read by Hill, concerned how the coming of spring brings a reawakening of energy for work of the National Society and for celebrating the completion of many projects.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Mary Scalf, and Joyce Gentry, treasurer, reported on all accounts.

Scalf, reporting for Vice Regent Ruth Ann Taylor, reminded members to bring collected can tabs by April 13 so they can be taken to the state conference.
