Forecasters say bad weather possible Thursday

Norman — Forecasters say there is a slight risk of severe weather in the Southern Plains on Thursday as a cold front approaches the region.

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., said Thursday that areas most likely to see bad weather are in southwestern Oklahoma and northwestern Texas.

Moist air from the Gulf of Mexico will flow into the region as the cold front approaches. There could be enough instability in the atmosphere to allow storms to develop in the Southern Plains and then spread into the middle Mississippi Valley.

Shear in the atmosphere indicates a chance of severe hail before the atmosphere stabilizes.
