Abba's Tables ministry feeds hungry in Ada

Ada —

One senses a feeling of hope walking through the doors of the Olive Branch Fellowship, home of Abba's  Tables, an Ada feed the hungry ministry.

The smell of freshly cooked homemade food and the occasional sound of piano music are dancing in the air.

Tables set up resemble that of a beautifully appointed  restaurant. Tablecloths, crystal glasses and dining china all sing a song of high quality.

Dozens of people sit at the tables laughing and enjoying themselves. Smiles can be seen all over the room.

The servers are all busy serving warm meals or pouring glasses of tea or water.

The truly remarkable thing about all of this is it is completely free to the guests.

It is all done by an organization called Abba’s Tables, led by a small committee.

“If you are hungry, come eat,” said Edwina Lowry, a member of the committee.

Abba’s Tables is run by volunteers and donations from individuals and companies.

Volunteers work in two shifts: the cooking crew and the serving/clean-up crew. The cooking crew works from 2 through 5 p.m. to prepare the food. Then from 5 through 8 p.m., the second shift serves meals and cleans up so it can all be done again the next day.
