Ada man attempts to break into jail

Ada —  

It’s not every day you walk up on somebody trying to burglarize the Pontotoc County Justice Center, but that’s what  happened to Sheriff John  Christian as he headed for his car after work Monday evening.

As to why Michael Erickson, 46, Ada,  chose a site others have fought to get out of, Christian says no one seems to know — not even Erickson  himself.

At any rate, while walking to his car, Christian heard a loud noise coming from The north side of the building and began walking toward the noise.

What he saw was Erickson flailing away at the driver’s side of a black GMC pickup  that sheriff’s deputies had seized in another arrest. His tool of choice for inflicting the damage was a pair of pruning shears.
