Ada man receives traumatic injuries in crash Thursday

Galey —

A motorist was seriously injured in a two-vehicle wreck 13 miles northwest of Ada early Thursday morning.

The crash occurred on state Highway 3W at 5:38 a.m. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Alan Fortner said 35-year-old Leslie A. Graham of Ada was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pickup west on SH 3 when, for an unknown reason, he crossed the center line and collided with a 2002 Peterbilt semi driven by 48-year-old Phillip King of Emory, Texas.

The two vehicles collided side to side. The pickup skidded off the highway, hit an embankment and rolled over, landing on the passenger side. Graham and a passenger, Linda C. Hatcher, 35, Ada, were removed from the wreckage by firefighters from Oil Center and Ada.

According to radio traffic, Graham received numerous injuries including a severed arm, broken femur, head, trunk internal and trunk external injuries. Emergency officials requested a medical helicopter, but, due to inclement weather, none would fly. Graham was taken by Valley View EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in serious condition.

Hatcher was taken to Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada, where she was treated and released. King was not injured.

Fortner said seat belts were in use, and the collision is still under investigation. Pontotoc County sheriff’s deputies also responded.
