An incorrect number in a public notice prompted the Ada City Council to delay action Tuesday on a proposal to annex land along Stonecipher Boulevard.
The council had scheduled a public hearing on the proposal which called for the city to annex four parcels of land on the south side of Stonecipher Boulevard into the city limits. Following the public hearing, the council was supposed to decide whether to approve the proposal.
The city notified landowners in the area about the hearing, but one of the numbers in a legal description of the property was wrong, said city attorney Frank Stout.
“To ensure the proper notice is given, we’re going to republish the notice,” he said. “We can’t have a public hearing tonight because the notice was statutorily not sufficient. So we will resend the notice and have a new public hearing.”
The city will send out new notices with the correct information and reschedule the hearing for Feb. 19. The council may act on the annexation proposal later that night.
