Ada woman pleads guilty to murder

Ada —

An Ada woman charged with killing a man pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder.

Loretta L. Felts entered a blind plea which did not include a recommendation concerning her possible sentence, Pontotoc County District Attorney Chris Ross said Monday. Felts will be sentenced at her next court date which is set for 2 p.m. July 30.

She could be ordered to serve between 10 years and life in prison, depending on the outcome of the July 30 hearing.

Felts was originally charged with first-degree murder in the May 25, 2012, stabbing of Ada resident Marcus Watson. However an amended complaint filed Friday in Pontotoc County District Court charged Felts with second-degree murder involving imminently dangerous conduct, according to court documents.

The amended complaint said  Felts brandished a knife and stabbed Watson during an argument, and he later died of his injuries.
