Area Greatest Loser contest to begin soon

Ada — Soon the holidays will be oh, so 2013. Gone. Forgotten. A thing of the past. Not so, the extra pounds we packed on enjoying those glorious days of Yuletide caloric consumption.

With a new year around the corner, it’s time to start planning how to get them off again. The Ada News and participating sponsors want to help by kicking off our sixth annual Greatest Loser Contest.

According to Maurisa Nelson, advertising director of The Ada News, deadline for entering is Friday, Jan. 3. To enter, fill out the entry blank in the full page ad in today’s newspaper and mail it in or take it to the newspaper at 116 N. Broadway, Ada.

“The first weigh-in takes place Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Heavenly Nutrition, 429 S. Mississippi in Ada and will continue on consecutive Tuesdays until final weigh-in on Tuesday, April 1. That’s a total of 13 weeks,” she said. “There will be two winners, one male and one female.”

Nelson said participants may miss two weigh-ins and still be eligible to win. As in years past, participants are allowed to provide a pseudo-name. Names and weekly weight loss results will be published in each Friday’s newspaper. Winners’ names will be published Friday, April 4.
