Ada scoutmaster and former scout honored

Ada —

Every other year, 55 scoutmasters are selected from the over 38,000 boy scout troops in the USA to receive the National Scoutmaster’s Recognition. Ada Scoutmaster Angus McFarlane was one of those 55 recognized at the Boy Scouts of America’s National Meeting held recently. McFarlane has been the scoutmaster of Ada’s Troop 4 since 1967. Since that time, 170 scouts have received their Eagle badges through Troop 4.

The honor was made even more special when McFarlane learned one of the other 54 to be recognized was Harry Evans, one of his former scouts. Evans has been the scoutmaster of Troop 370 in Atlanta since 1999. Under his leadership 94 scouts have earned their Eagle badges.

McFarlane couldn’t be prouder of his honor or the fact that one of his former scouts was also named one of the top 55 scoutmasters out of 10,000 in the United States.
