Two arrested for alleged assault

Ada — An Ada man was severely beaten Sunday and two men were arrested by police.

Arrested were 27-year-old Durrell Jones and 24-year-old Terrance Jones, both of Ada.

Police responded to a call of a man lying in the road at the intersection of Eighth and Highland at 1:20 p.m. When police arrived, they discovered a man lying on his back with his girlfriend beside him, Officer Brian Engel wrote in a report.

“The victim, later identified as Montilito Kemp, appeared to be breathing however he was unresponsive and unable to communicate any information,” Engel wrote. “At this time I observed blood on the victim’s face along with several knots and I observed extreme swelling on his face. On his head I observed lacerations and blood on the pavement.”

Kemp, 42, was treated by Mercy EMS and Ada firefighters at the scene, then taken to Mercy Hospital Ada. Police found Durrell Jones and Terrance Jones at a house in the 800 block of E. Seventh, according to the report.

Kemp’s girlfriend, Amy Henley, and Kemp’s daughter, Shaina Billy, said the incident began at a residence in the 1100 block of E. Eighth. While Billy and her boyfriend, Durrell Jones, were arguing, Jones allegedly hit her in the face, according to the report.

Kemp became upset upon seeing his daughter being hit, according to Henley. An argument began and the three men then went outside.

“(Henley) stated when she walked outside she observed Durrell (Jones) hit Mr. Kemp, knocking him down,” Engel wrote. “(Henley) said when Mr. Kemp fell down she witnessed Terrance (Jones) hitting Mr. Kemp in the face multiple times and then the two walked off.”

Officer Jason Mosley went to Mercy Hospital to photograph Kemp’s injuries.

“While at the hospital Mosley was advised that Mr. Kemp had suffered severe injuries to his head and was being flown to Oklahoma City for further treatment,” Engel wrote.

Durrell Jones was arrested on suspicion of having a warrant, domestic abuse and aggravated assault and battery. Terrance Jones was arrested on suspicion of having warrants and aggravated assault and battery. Ada police detectives are investigating.
