Life Community Church launches 'Families First' program Jan. 20

Ada —  

Life Community Church (LCC) hosts a six-week long series,  Families First: Hope for Families, Strong or Struggling, from Jan. 20 through Feb. 24, at its 10 a.m. service at 330 East 14th Street in Ada. 

Created by LCC Senior Pastor Mickey Keith, the series is open to the public and it focuses on the value and importance of family relationships for Christians and for the community as a whole.  

“There is ample evidence that on a national level marriage and family relationships are struggling, but there is also evidence that a religious orientation in the family improves the quality of these relationships,” Keith said. “At Life Community Church, we believe that by following Biblical principles we can enliven strong marriages and help renew struggling ones.”

Families First is an ambitious undertaking that includes testimony, original video productions and interactive communications, all focusing on various themes related to family, marriage and personal relationships. 

“We plan to teach and also to have fun with this program, including the introduction of the fictional Kinklefritz Family (made up of members of the LCC congregation),” Keith said.

The Sunday series includes the following topics (by date):

• Jan. 20 “Why the Family”

• Jan. 27 “Marriage on the Rock (the Rock being Jesus Christ)

• Feb. 3 “Raising G-rated Kids in an R-rated World (Christian parenting)

• Feb. 10 “His Needs, Her Needs (teaching utilizing the work of author Willard Harley)

• Feb. 17 “Dating and Waiting” (a focus on the Biblical view on relationships)

• Feb. 24 “Commitment Sunday (making a resolution for a stronger marriage)

As a special feature in the final Feb. 24 segment of the series, interested participants will be invited to share in a resolution ceremony and commitment to a stronger marriage and family relationship.

In addition to the Sunday series, the LCC Wednesday evening “Connection” Series, beginning at 6:30 p.m. (Jan. 23 through Feb. 27) also focuses on the Family First topic.  Associate Pastor Curtis Reese leads the programs, which include testimony and video teachings from the Joe McGee Ministries.

  • Pontotoc County Quilt Show Results

    Pontotoc County Home and Community Education Clubs held their annual quilt show last week with 97 judged quilts and 28 for-show-only for a grand total of 125 quilts hanging at the two-day show. The event drew over 300 visitors from as far as Tennessee. Eleven vendors were on hand and sold quilting fabric and notions. The following are the results of the judged quilts:
