Allen family hosts annual reunion

Ada — The 43rd Annual Allen Family Reunion was hosted July 6 at First Baptist Church of Ada. More than 60 persons traveled from down the street, all over Oklahoma, and the state of Texas.

Mike Cheek, cousin A.M. Cheek’s son and Aunt Blanch (Allen) Cheek's grandson, provided the chicken and fried fish while others made potato salad, pinto beans, fried pies, and other desserts. There was also watermelon for the 4th of July celebration.

Ruby and Harrison Allen started the reunion in their home, and then moved to Gene and Katie (Allen) Reeve’s home then back to Aunt Ruby's home.

This year the family had a five generation group: Eunice Cheek, Mike Cheek, Jade, Stephanie and Bayden (Cheek) Harp.

Bobby Stuart was auctioneer for the annual auction. Helpers were Stacy Hopper and Mike Cheek.

The 44th reunion in 2014 will be held July 5 at First Baptist Church in Ada.

Attending from Ada were Ruby Allen, Gene and Katie Reeves, Harvie Johnson, Fred, Emmelen and James Allen, Donna Long, Gary Hill, Mary and Cindy Choate, Ronnie Miller, Michael and Lisa Norton, Katrina, Arabella and William Goodnight, Harrold Allen, Scot, Marsha, Katilyn and Kaycee Reeves, Shawn, Hayley, Mallory and Grace Reeves, Tiffany and Trey Logsdon, Darci, Cal, and Kas Reeves, Reba Hazday, Nina Stephens, Crystal Merrell, Emily, Ben and Willow Hopper, Ashley, Maggie, Maddi and Mason Dansby, Bruce and Sheri Wilkerson, and Freddy and Stacy Hopper.

Attending from out of town were Jackie Allen of Tecumseh; Georgie and Mike Cheek, Jade, Stephine and Bayden Harp (Cheek) of Terrell,  Texas; Peggy Gross of Sherman, Texas; Euna Cheek of Terrell, Texas; Joe Watkins, Bristow;   Bridgett Armbrust, Lindley and Lakelyn Steffee of Mesquite, Texas;  Bobby Stuart and Marie Duke of Keota; and David Waters of Lancaster, Texas.
