ADA — The Ada High School senior classes of 1959 and 1960 hosted a combined reunion in Ada Oct. 18-20.
Many members from both classes attended including local residents as well as those from California, Colorado, Georgia and Tennessee.
A full weekend was planned at Fossil Creek Ranch. In addition, a private showing of "West of Ahloso" and "High Noon" was at the new McSwain Theater. Alberta Blackburn, Billie Floyd, Ann Klepper and Ruth Ann Taylor led the historical bus tour of Ada, a combined walking/driving tour sponsored by Preserving the Area Stories in Time (PAST).
The highlight and surprise of the tour was being greeted by Robert S. Kerr, portrayed by Greg Pierce, at the Kerr Cabin. The cabin will soon be refurnished with appropriate articles of the time period when Kerr was born and lived there.
"We are very grateful to Mickey Keith and Harlen and Shirley Stonecipher for working with PAST to provide this much needed addition to the Kerr Cabin and gravesite," said Ruth Ann Taylor, PAST member. "In the future additional historical visits to the site will be planned.
