Ada — From honoring mothers and military members to celebrating the first official holiday of summer, the Chickasaw Cultural Center has several fun special events planned for May.
Meet mom for tea at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, Sulphur, May 10- 11, during the annual Mother’s Day celebration. All mothers will receive free cookies and tea in the Aaimpa’ Café and free admission to Chikasha Poya Exhibit Center during the special event.
A Mother’s Day craft workshop will be conducted for children 12 and younger, and there will be a special stomp dance demonstration to honor mothers. All mothers will also receive a special gift while supplies last.
Armed Forces Day will be observed at the Chickasaw Cultural Center Saturday, May 17. Active military and veterans will receive free admission into the Chikasha Poya Exhibit Center and a 10 percent discount in the Aaimpa' Café. At 11 a.m. there will be a stomp dance demonstration to honor military personnel.
A Memorial Day Celebration will be conducted May 24-25. The celebration will feature a stickball demonstration, stomp dance cultural demonstrations and storytelling in the interactive Living Village, along with many other special events.
