East Central to host music camp

East Central University is hosting the Oklahoma Ambassadors Music (OAM) Camp, May 31-June 3, in preparation for the group’s European tour, June 5-20.

OAM consists of talented high school and college band and choir students – 85 in honor band and 40 in honor choir - from all over Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Ambassadors go on tour every odd year in early June, performing in London; Paris; Crans-Montana, Switzerland; Innsbruck, Austria; Venice Italy; and Rothenburg, Germany.

Prior to their tour, they will perform their first concert in ECU’s Ataloa Theatre inside the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center on Monday, June 3 at 2 p.m. Admission is free and open to all.

There are several outstanding Oklahoma high school directors that work with the groups and conduct while on tour. Greg Johnson, from Mustang High School, is the tour director and choir coordinator and ECU’s Dr. Allen Correll is the band coordinator.
