Missing-children's section to publish Friday

Ada —

Friday’s The Ada News will contain a special issue centering on missing children. Maurisa Nelson, advertising director, said the case in Cleveland, Ohio, where three missing people were recently located, points to the vital importance of such an effort.

“I have been working closely with a communications coordinator with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children,” Nelson said. “Friday’s special insert will have the most up-to-date cases of Oklahoma missing children, along with the decade-old cases that still need attention. Since we published our 2012 edition, 18 of those children have been found.”

Nelson said this edition works as an expanded public service announcement to call attention to an issue with local implications. “Not many years ago, we had a missing child found at one of our local retail stores. If we can bring even one of these children back to their homes, we’ve done our job. Given what happened in Cleveland, Ohio, one of these missing children could be right next door to us and we wouldn’t even know it.

“We especially want to thank our wonderful sponsors who supported this edition and made it possible to deliver to our readers.”
