Ada — Area briefs are for non-profit events and organizations. Briefs must be submitted at least five days before the event by bringing them into the office, emailing them to adanewslifestyle@cable-one.net or faxing them to 580-332-8841. Briefs will not be accepted over the telephone. Church-related briefs are published only on Friday’s religion page. All activities may be subject to change due to weather conditions.

• SMILE — Single mother’s support group meets at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings of every month at The Perfect Blend Coffee Shop, 730 E. Main. • Hypnosis with Mike, a comedy stage hypnosis show, is 7:30 p.m. at Ada Elks Lodge. Limited tickets are available for this family performance. To purchase tickets, phone 332-9706 or purchase them at the door. Cost is $6 in advance and $8 at the door.

• Pontotoc County Retired Educators Association (PCREA) meets at 11 a.m. at Ada Elks Lodge for its regular monthly meeting and noon luncheon. The Pioneer Education Award will be presented by the committee of Ruth Ann Taylor, Peggy Bagley and Vaden Morgan.  All retired educators and support personnel are encouraged to attend.

• Stonewall Area Historical Society presents Susanne Woolley and Cowboy Jim Garling with bass player Eddie Whitmore performing western swing and upbeat old-time Gospel music. The event begins at 6 p.m. at Stonewall High School gymnasium. Cost is $5. Children are admitted free. The event is a benefit for the  renovation of the Stonewall Methodist Church into a history center. All donations will be appreciated.

• Chickasaw Nation Arts and Humanities invite students to participate in a fun art learning experience Saturday, November 9 and 16. The class, which is free and open to all students in the third through sixth grade,  will be conducted from 10 a.m. to noon at the arts and humanities building, 201 N. Broadway in Ada. Pre-enrollment is required through the fine arts department by phoning Cara Criswell at (580) 272-5520 or by email Cara.Criswell@Chickasaw.net.

• American Legion Post 72 hosts bingo each Saturday night. Mini games begin at 6 p.m. and regular bingo begins at 7 p.m. Snack bar items are available.

• Wild Goose musicians jam session takes place each Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at Wild Goose Club in Sasakwa. Musicians need to take their own instruments. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, phone Kallo at 405-941-3071.

• GriefShare support group meets from 7-9 p.m. at Central Church of Christ Family Life Center, 824 Stadium Drive. GriefShare is for people grieving the death of loved ones. Groups meet weekly for 13 weeks to help each individual face the challenge and move toward rebuilding his or her life. There is no charge to attend this grief support group. • Pontotoc County 4-H is sponsoring a babysitting clinic from 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, through 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, for youth aged 11-17. Participants do not have to be current 4-H members to attend. Cost is $20 and includes all materials, a first aid kit, a “Babysitter Bag of Tricks,” and CPR and first aid training (although certification cards will not be issued). • Tupelo All-School Reunion is from 5-9 p.m. in the school cafeteria. A meal of various sandwiches, chips and dips will be served about 7 p.m. Guests are asked to take a desserts. Theme of this year’s meeting is Golden Oldies. Guests are asked to take interesting articles older than 50 years for viewing. Tupelo School Yearbooks from 1954 to the present on DVD format are available from Kathy Ingram and can be picked up at the reunion if ordered before that time.
