Two hospitalists join Mercy Clinic

Ada —

Mercy Clinic welcomes two new physicians, Dr. Ashok Akula and Dr. Ali Tipu, to the hospital medicine program at Mercy Hospital Ada.

Hospital medicine allows Akula and Tipu to provide specialized care to hospital patients and often serve as the primary doctor during hospital stays. The care of the patient is most often coordinated between the hospitalist and the patient's primary care physician. This allows hospital medicine physicians to use their intimate knowledge of the hosptial staff, services and procedures to provide care, handle emergencies and address questions and concerns as they arise.

Akula earned his bachelor's degree in medicine from Kakatiya Medical College, in Warangal, India, and his doctorate of medicine from the University of Nevada School of Medicine, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Tipu earned his doctorate of medicine from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan and completed his internal medicine residency at Interfaith Medical Center, N.Y.
