Briefs must be submitted at least five days before the event by bringing them into the office, emailing them to adanewslifestyle@cableone.net or faxing them to 580-332-8841. Briefs will not be accepted over the telephone. Church-related briefs are published only on Friday’s religion page. All activities may be subject to change due to weather conditions.

• Halloween safe house, sponsored by Ada Police Department in cooperation with area organizations and merchants, is from 6-8 p.m. at Pontotoc County Agri-plex. Admission is free and open to the public. Community organizations, businesses, churches and groups wishing to sign up for space or to donate candy may contact the Ada Police Department at 580-436-8024.

NOVEMBER 1, 2013

• Francis Halloween carnival takes place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Francis Fire Station. Activities include games, concession with hot dgs, nachos and Frito chili pie and door prizes. Tickets are four for $1. Trick or Treat in Francis will also be that night. Those wishing to participate should turn their porch lights on. All others should make sure their porch light is turned off.

• Run to Stop Diabetes 5K will take place at East Central University football field. Registration is at 7 a.m. Race starts at 8 a.m. Cost is $30 and includes T-shirt, chip timed run and admission to ECU’s football game. Awards will be given to top three male and female finishers. • Latta Public Schools will host an HIV/AIDS and drug education curriculum parent meeting at 5:30 p.m. in Room 111 of Latta Junior High School. Purpose of the meeting is to acquaint parents, teachers and interested school patrons aout the HIV/AIDS curriculum to be taught to students in grades 5, 7 and 10 and the drug education curriculum used in grades 4, 7 and 9.
