LCC to begin 'Son of God' series

Ada — Following the highly anticipated debut of the “Son of God” film today, Life Community Church Senior Pastor Mickey Keith will introduce a new four-week “Son of God” sermon series on Sunday, March 2, and on the same day LCC congregation members will have an opportunity to participate in a viewing of the film at the new Cinemamark 8 Theater in Ada.

This new film by producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey follows their acclaimed five-part series, “The Bible,” which was aired on The History Channel in 2013.

In promotional material for “Son of God,” it is said the purpose of the film is to “shine a light on the most riveting figure in human history and his important and life-changing mission and message.”

Keith believes the “Son of God” film also will be successful and, of equal importance, it will focus attention on the story of Christ and the film's fundamental question: Who is He?

“This inspiring question — Who is He? — is vital to all Christians, and it will be the foundation of the four-part series I will share with members of the LCC congregation,” Keith said.

The LCC “Son of God” sermon series will include:

• “The Son of Man,” March 2

• “The Sinner's Friend,” March 9

• “The Anointed One,” March 16

• “The Coming King,” March 23

The LCC sermon series, which is open to the public, will include materials associated with the film, and as always, the sermons will be posted online and available for viewing at the LCC website. During a recent sermon, Keith encouraged members of the LCC congregation to invite a friend or neighbor to see the film and to come to the “Son of God” sermon series.

Keith believes the use of film, social media and other online communications are an important means of creating community and sharing the Christian message among followers.

“We are incorporating new media as one more way of involving members of our congregation and visitors to our church.

This is simply one more channel for building an active and engaged Christian community,” Keith said.

LCC is currently located at 330 E. 14th St. in Ada.
