Local artists featured in showcase

Ada —

More than 50 area artists showcased their work Saturday at the Ada Artists Association’s annual fall show.

Young, amateur and professional artists displayed their work during the show, which took place on the second floor of the Ada Public Library. The youth section alone attracted about 27 young artists, which may be the highest number ever for that section, Chairwoman Morgan Brendle said Monday.

“We had a very positive turnout in the youth section,” she said.

Brendle said organizers added more categories to the show this year, which made it possible to attract more artists and present additional awards.

She also said she wanted to thank the people who helped set up the show.

Dr. Taryn Chubb, assistant professor of art and gallery director at East Central University, served as judge for the show.

Chubb said the show highlighted work in a variety of media, including watercolor, oil and acrylic painting; mixed media; and sculpture.

She added that she had enjoyed judging the show.

“There is some really nice quality work in the show,” she said.

The best-of-show winners in each category were these:

• Professional: Charlotte Harris for “Moss Landing.”

• Amateur: Michaeli Brunk for “Left.”

• Youth: Madelyn Little Field for “A Child’s Mind.”

The show will be available for public viewing from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. today through Saturday at the library.
