St. Joseph Church to host women’s breakfast and Lenten reflection

Ada — Dr. Carole Brown, director of Evangelization for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, will be at St. Joseph Church on Saturday, March 8, for a women’s Lenten reflection day.  The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with breakfast in Benedictine Hall.

Brown is the new director of the Office of the New Evangelization for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City.  She grew up on a cattle ranch in western South Dakota along with four other siblings.

She has been involved in evangelization all her adult life. She earned an MA in theology and Christian Ministry from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, in 1997.

She went on to work at Franciscan University for eight years as the director of Evangelistic Outreach until 2004.

After serving in missions in Europe for a year, she went on to complete a Ph.D. in systematic theology in 2010 at the National University of Ireland.

Her dissertation is entitled “Crossing the Threshold of Faith: Pope John Paul II’s Approach to the Problem of the Conversion of the Baptized."

While in Ireland, she helped to start the first deliberately ecumenical radio station in the world, Spirit Radio.  She returned to the USA last year, and joined the Archdiocesan staff in October.

She will base some of her reflections on Pope Francis’ call for a new evangelization along with stories of faith and interactive activities for group sharing.
