Ada — Daniel reappointed

The Rev. David L. Daniel has been reappointed as senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church for a fifth year by the Bishop Hayes. He will be preaching a session on prayer during June at both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services. The church is located at 129 W. 14th St. in Ada and has a website at


Former Adan receives honorary doctorate

Former Ada resident Pastor G. Henry Wells was recently awarded an honorary doctorate of divinity from William Jessup University in Sacramento, California. This is the third honorary doctorate bestowed in the Christian university's 75-year history.


Congregation celebrates Shavuot

Congregation Beth Yeshua will celebrate Shavuot, the original Day of Pentecost at 11 a.m. Sunday at 1415 Wolfe Lane in Ada. The group will recognize the significance of the ancient Ten Commandments rock near Los Lunas, New Mexico, as presented by David Perkins. For more information, call 405-476-2797.


Kidz Krusade scheduled for June 11-13

A Kidz Krusade will be at 7 p.m. June 11-13 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Roff, 601 E. Main St. The event will feature Shadrack the dog, Bubba and Babbie Babies and Moze and Molly Moppette, along with Moody the Memory Monkey and Mr. Ugly. Father-Daughter Ball June 13

Ada Baptist Temple will be having a father-daughter ball on Friday, June 13, at the Chickasaw Community Center. Evangelist R. Brock will be the guest speaker for the evening. Gospel Singing Saturday, June 14

A Gospel singing will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Rock Building, north entrance, at Pontotoc County Agri-plex. The Gospel Singers Reunion will be in memory of Darlene. Singers will be Bobby and Tina, Mark Huett, Tom Borrow, Revelation Singers, Al Brown and Co., Country Touch, River of Life Singers and Bobbie Jones.     Members of the family of the late Otis Sr. and Viola Roundtree Martin met for a reunion at Fossil Creek, south of Ada, on July 4. The men golfed in the morning, and the kids went swimming. Lots of visiting and making memories.
