Summer blood donors needed

Ada —

The need for blood doesn’t take a vacation. Yet, fewer people typically donate during the summer, according to Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI). Chickasaw Nation’s Information Technology department, 901 N. County Club Road, has stepped up to help with a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 15. Anyone who is healthy and 16 years or older is encouraged to give.

Each donor will receive two free tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo, a “Feel Fierce” T-shirt, free health screenings and Donor Rewards points.

“For patients in need of blood, there’s no summer vacation,” said John Armitage, M.D., president and chief executive of OBI. “That’s why it’s crucial that blood donors take just an hour to donate blood. The lives of our friends, co-workers and neighbors may depend on it.”

Appointments are not necessary but can be made by calling 877-340-8777 or visiting www.obi.org.
