Area Briefs

Ada — Area briefs are for non-profit events and organizations and run in The Ada News as space is available. Briefs must be submitted at least five days before the event by bringing them into the office, emailing them to adanewslifestyle@cableone.net or faxing them to 580-332-8841. Briefs will not be accepted over the telephone. Church-related briefs are published only on Friday’s religion page. All activities may be subject to change due to weather conditions. 

FRIDAY

APRIL 25, 2014

• ACT II, Inc. presents "Little Women: the Broadway Musical" tonight at 7:30 p.m. in East Central University's Dorothy I. Summers Theatre. Tickets will be available at the door: $8 for adults, $6 students/seniors, $4 child age 5 or under. For more information, call 421-5122 or email act2ada@gmail.com.

• The Chickasaw Nation ReUse Center will host a document shredding event Friday, April 25, at the Chickasaw Nation ReUse Center, 2205 North Broadway in Ada. A shredding truck will be onsite from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until full) to immediately shred documents for recycling. The ReUse Center is also accepting new and gently used household items and building materials for redistribution to the community. The event is free and open to the public with businesses welcome.

• Al-Anon meets at 8 p.m. each Friday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

• Ada Single Friends (55 and up) meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m. at the Chickasaw Wellness Center for exercise. For more information, call 580-320-4157 or 320-2391.

  • Martin family holds reunion

    Members of the family of the late Otis Sr. and Viola Roundtree Martin met for a reunion at Fossil Creek, south of Ada, on July 4. The men golfed in the morning, and the kids went swimming. Lots of visiting and making memories.
