Thanksgiving service set

The 21st annual community Thanksgiving service will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 24 at Ada First Baptist Church, 521 S. Broadway. This year’s speaker will be the Rev. Bob Langston, director of local missions and pastoral care at First United Methodist Church.

 

Ministry feeds hungry residents

Bread of Life Ministry, hosted by Ada First Baptist Church, feeds the hungry in the Ada community from 5:30-6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month in the church dining room, 521 S. Broadway.

 

Smorgasbord tickets on sale

The 63rd annual St. Joseph Smorgasbord Dinner is Sunday, Nov. 10. Serving times are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Dinner will be served in the parish hall at 1300 E. Beverly. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children (ages 4 to 10), and can be purchased from parishioners or by contacting the parish office.

The dinner will include Swedish meatballs, garlic cheese grits, broccoli casserole, curried fruit and turkey. The bazaar will be located in the educational building. 

A raffle will be held for a Kindle Fire HDX. For more information, call 580-332-4811.

 

First Baptist hosts fall festival

Fall festival at Ada First Baptist Church is from 5-7:30 p.m.  Wednesday, Oct 30, at 521 S. Broadway Ave. This is a free event for children ages preschool through sixth grade and their parents.

Local veterans honored

First United Methodist Church hosts special worship celebrations Sunday, Nov. 10, at both the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. services. The services will include the colors, flag salute and the National Anthem along with special music by the church choir. 

On Monday, Nov. 11, a complimentary luncheon will be served  at noon with Janet Wilburn presenting special patriotic music. Dr. Jim Ozier, a motivational speaker from Dallas, Texas, is presenting a message on “What veterans can teach the church.”
