Area Briefs

Area briefs are for non-profit events and organizations. Briefs must be submitted at least five days before the event by bringing them into the office, emailing them to adanewslifestyle@cableone.net or faxing them to 580-332-8841. Briefs will not be accepted over the telephone. Church-related briefs are published only on Friday’s religion page. All activities may be subject to change due to weather conditions. 

 

FRIDAY

APRIL 12, 2013

• Oklahoma Blood Institute hosts a blood drive from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Chickasaw Nation Employee Health Fair, 700 N. Mississippi.

 

SATURDAY

APRIL 13, 2013

• Konawa Chamber of Commerce President Judi Bynum invites area residents to this year’s annual community banquet to be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Special keynote speaker for the evening will be State Sen. Susan Paddack. This year’s banquet begins with a mixer at 6 at Konawa High School gymnasium lobby. Advance tickets may be purchased at BancFirst, Sooner State Bank, Central Oklahoma Family Medical Center, Streetman’s IGA or Khoury’s Lumber. 

• Chimney Hill Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will have a guest luncheon at noon at the Ada Arts and Heritage Center. Remember to bring items to be taken to state conference.

•â€¯Byng hosts open house at its town hall and fire department from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 110 Byng Avenue. Swearing in of elected officials takes place at 11 a.m. A meet-and-greet of the members of the volunteer fire department, emergency management, town and public works board, clerk and treasurer is from 11:15 a.m. until noon. Beginning at noon a fish fry will be served. Area residents have an opportunity to play Info Byngo from 12:30-4 p.m. for a chance to win door prizes.
