Ada resident honored among those making a difference

Ada — Ada resident Karen Hudson was recently recognized as one of Oklahoma’s “50 Making a Difference,” as part of The Journal Record’s annual Woman of the Year Program. Each year hundreds of nominations are received from across the state for the program, which honors female business and community leaders.

This year’s 50  honorees were recognized at an event held at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

“There are so many amazing and accomplished women in Oklahoma and it is such an honor to provide them with the recognition they deserve,” said Mary Mélon, president and publisher of The Journal Record.

Hudson, founder and president of Ada based Hudson Advancement Strategies, an independent consulting firm, has a long record of service to the Ada Community.

She says the reason she is involved in service to the community is simple.

“For six generations my family has benefitted from the efforts of community leaders who worked to make the Ada area a great place to live,” she said, “So, my service comes from a grateful heart and a desire to give back. I just hope future generations will benefit as much from my efforts as I have from those who did their part in the past.”

Hudson currently serves as the President of the Ada City Schools Board of Education and has been on the board since 2004. She is also the President of Ada’s Sciences and Natural Resources Foundation and is a member of both the Big 5 Community Services Board and the Pontotoc County Tourism Board.

She is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma Class XXII and has served as that class’s ambassador.

She is a Boys and Girls Club of Ada Board Member and has served as a Company Advisor for Oklahoma Business Week in each of its two years of existence. Hudson is also a board member and lifetime member of the ECU Alumni Association as well as an adjunct professor at ECU.
