Habitat for Humanity taking applications

Ada —

Ada Habitat for Humanity is taking applications from very low-income families in the Ada area.  Habitat will refurbish a home in the Ada area and sell it with a no-interest mortgage to people who do not have an adequate place to live. 

 Applications may be picked up at the Ada Public Library. 

Once completed, send the application to: P.O. Box 1383, Ada, OK, 74821. 

 The deadline for return of applications is Oct. 15.        

Partner families are selected on the basis of housing need, ability to repay the loan, and willingness to participate as a partner in Habitat’s ministry.  The selection process is non-discriminatory.  Neither race nor religion is a factor.

 Mortgages are issued on a no-profit, no-interest basis over a fixed period of time, usually about 20 years.  

Monthly mortgage payments go into a revolving fund, which supports the renovation of more Habitat homes.

  • Pontotoc County Quilt Show Results

    Pontotoc County Home and Community Education Clubs held their annual quilt show last week with 97 judged quilts and 28 for-show-only for a grand total of 125 quilts hanging at the two-day show. The event drew over 300 visitors from as far as Tennessee. Eleven vendors were on hand and sold quilting fabric and notions. The following are the results of the judged quilts:
