Ada —

One step at a time, the Billy K Band is moving toward its goal of getting national exposure.

The local band is trying to build a fan base at home before branching out across the region, band member Bill Kelley said Friday in an email. The band’s ultimate goal is to attract fans across the United States.

“No plans to stay local, but (we) do not want to forget our roots or where we are from,” Kelley said.

The band will bring its blend of country, red dirt and acoustic music to town Sept. 27, when Ada is sponsoring Music in the Park at Wintersmith Park. The event starts at 7 p.m., and it is free and open to the public.

If you go ...

What: Music in the Park, a free concert with the Billy K Band.

When and where: 7 p.m. Sept. 27 in Wintersmith Park, south of the lodge. The Kiwanis of Great Ada will have the snack bar open, and rides will be available.
