ECU volleyball starts string of six non-conference matches

Ada — The East Central University volleyball squad will be playing six non-conference matches in the middle of the 2012 campaign starting Tuesday, Oct. 2 when it hosts Central Oklahoma at 7 p.m. in the Kerr Activities Center.

 The Lady Tigers will play five of the six matches over the next week, with the final four being contested in Topeka, Kan., at the Washburn Lady Blues Fall Classic, Oct. 5-6.  ECU will play Truman State (9:30 a.m.) and Emporia State (2 p.m.), Friday, Oct. 5 and Northwest Missouri State (9 a.m.) and Missouri Western State (1:30 p.m.), Saturday, Oct. 6.

 The Lady Tigers are currently 5-11 overall and 3-2 in Great American Conference play after winning three of their last five matches.  Senior Tatiana Booth has led the offensive charge for ECU, recording a .431 (73k-17e-130ta) hitting percentage in the last six matches.  Junior Danielle Essix has been strong on the service line, recording 15 service aces in the same time frame.

    East Central University football defensive end Armonty Bryant has picked up two post season honors after a standout senior season.  Bryant was named to the 2012 AFCA Division II Coaches’ All-America Team and The Oklahoman State College All-Star Football Team Defensive Player of the Year.
