Oklahoma City —
After leading by 23 in the second half, the East Central University women’s basketball team battled through for a 70-65 win over Mid-America Christian Monday at the Gaulke Activity Center in non-conference action.
The Lady Tigers (7-2, 3-1 GAC) were led by sophomore Dilan Webster who tallied a season-best 19 points and a career-best six blocks. ECU also saw a double-double from senior Lindsay McCown. McCown earned her second career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
“We had a chance to put the game away,” said head coach Kent Franz. “But we did everything in our power to let them back in the game. Yet I told the team in the locker room after the game as upset as I am with how we finished this contest that does not override the fact that we won. We will just have to play smarter, tougher and make better decisions the rest of the season.”
The Lady Tigers will play one more non-conference game before taking a two-week break for the holidays. ECU will host St. Mary’s (Texas), today at 2 p.m. in the Kerr Activities Center, with admission being free for all who attend.
