It's now up to Spencer Bond to make change permanent

Ada —

I have to admit I was sorta happy when East Central lost the toss before Saturday’s game against Arkansas-Monticello.

The contest was critical to any plans the Tigers had to make a run at the Great American Conference title in the league’s second season and marked the first career start for redshirt freshman quarterback Spencer Bond.  A former high school phenom from Madill who had battled high-profile Lawton product Cody Miller for the starting job since last spring, Bond was handed the keys to an ECU offense that had stunk up the joint(s) in a Week 2 win over Southern Nazarene at Norris Field and an ugly 13-10 Week 3 loss at GAC rival Southwestern.

After fuming all the way back from Weatherford, head coach Tim McCarty consulted with offensive coordinator Rashad Jackson and pulled the trigger, benching Miller — a sophomore who backed up Tyler Vanderzee in 2011 — and turning to Bond to breathe some life into a Tiger attack gasping for air since the season began.
