The East Central University soccer team ended a three-game road trip with a 0-2 loss to McMurray at Edwards Field.
“We had a poor effort today,” said head coach Riley Bailey. “But to the credit of McMurry, they capitalized on their opportunities. We have no one that can finish right now and unless that changes, it’s going to be a long year.”
The teams went to the locker room after the first half knotted at zero, but the WarHawks (2-1-1) came out ready to play in the second half and scored their first goal at 50:50. McMurry added a second goal at 62:33 on a penalty kick for the 2-0 final.
The Tigers (0-5-1) had their chances to score, as they recorded 17 total shots and eight shots on goal. Sophomore Taylor Graves led the team with four shots, including two on goal. Sophomore Margaret Glutz added two shots on goal for ECU. Junior Stephanie Gutierrez recorded three saves.
The Tigers will return home for two games at the ECU Soccer Field. ECU will first host Harding, Friday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. in the first Great American Conference game of the 2012 season. The Tigers will then play Ouachita Baptist, Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.
