Charles and Melodee Tamashiro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 26. They were married in Roanoke, Virginia, on Nov. 26, 1965.
While serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in 1963, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Charles was introduced to Melodee by her cousin, who was also a Marine. The couple was married in 1965 after Melodee graduated from LPN School at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. They made their home in Virginia and Florida before moving to Ada in 1976.
Charles is the operator of Shockley Ranch, east of Ada. Melodee worked as a nurse at Jan Frances Care Center and Valley View Regional Hospital Home Health Care, later moving to the medical records department and retiring from Mercy Hospital in 2013.
The couple has three daughters, Tammy, Terry, and Erin, and three sons-in-law, Steve Hobbs, Wayne Harris, and Matt Vanore. They have six grandchildren, Preston, Caleb, Lauren, Matthew, Cassidy, and Chloe, and one great grandchild, Joshua.
