Ada’s dessert makers will get a chance to showcase their best goodies next month when Ada Main Street hosts its annual “Charmed by Chocolate” event.
Amateur, professional and young chefs are invited to enter their most tempting treats in the chocolate-themed cooking contest, which will run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Feb. 9 at the historic Ada Depot, 300 W. Main. Young contestants may be assisted by an adult. Professional bakers, chefs or culinary students must enter in the professional category.
Contestants may compete in four areas: Cakes, pies and brownies; chocolates and candies; cookies; and wild card — for desserts that don’t fit into any of the other categories.
“The rules are basically only that the dessert has to have chocolate,” said Jennifer Johnston, program manager for Ada Main Street.
The entries will be rated by a panel of judges and the winner will get bragging rights for the year.
Contest entry forms must be submitted to the Main Street office, 114 S. Rennie, by 4 p.m. Feb. 8.
