City OKs site plan for Hampton Inn

Ada —

Ada City Council gave the green light this week for Hampton Inn and Suites to build a motel in town.

Council voted 4-0 Monday to approve a site plan for a 77-room hotel at the southwest corner of Lonnie Abbott Industrial Boulevard and Stone Briar Drive, west of the Santa Fe Cattle Co. restaurant. Vice Mayor Shane Sweeney abstained from the discussion and the vote because he was involved in the sale of the property.

Bill Patel, owner and president of the Oklahoma City-based developer Nickie Inc. LLC, said Tuesday construction will begin in November or December and will likely take about a year. The motel will open for business in 2013.

The project is expected to cost between $6 million and $6.5 million, Patel said.

The news that several manufacturing giants are planning to bring some of their production back to the United States has dominated the headlines in recent months.
