In September, the LPN HOSA participated in the United Way Health Fair at Wintersmith Park.
The group was able to give free blood pressure checks and wellness information to the public. They provided games for the kids to play and parents as well. Pontotoc Technology Center also hosted a blood drive in September. The goal was 35 units donated and PTC had 44.
On October 15, the juvenile diabetes walk was held in Tulsa. A total of $1,200 was raised by PTC for the benefit. The donations were made in part by a yard/bake sale and a benefactor who’s company made a very generous donation.
In addition, the officers for this year went to Fall Leadership in Oklahoma City on October 18. Participants had the opportunity to meet other officers and be informed on what HOSA was about. “There are so many opportunities for community outreach the LPN HOSA is excited about. We have some exciting things coming up for the holidays as well such as the pillow drive for the nursing center,” officials said.
