Rough Green Snake

In the photo on the left, my son Felix holds a rough green snake we caught one day last week. Notice the bright above and light yellow below. This coloration helps camouflage the snake from predators. At right, the same snake makes its way through greenbrier vines after we let it go. Rough green snakes are completely harmless to humans and are beneficial as they help keep insect populations in check.
