Trial date set for murder suspect

Jerrod Murray, a former East Central University student who allegedly shot and killed another student for no apparent reason near Asher, Okla., appeared before a judge Thursday morning, April 11, 2013, and chose to waive his right to a preliminary hearing on a first degree murder charge. Murray was handcuffed and shackled at the waist and feet as he arrived for his court appearance. He was escorted in and out of the Pottawatomie County Courthouse in Shawnee under heavy guard.
