Odells to celebrate golden anniversary

An open invitation is extended to family and friends of Tim and Edna Odell to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary.  A reception will be held Saturday, May 21from 2-4 p.m. in the Asher Senior Citizens Building located at 110 N Division, in Asher.

Tim Odell and the former Edna Mae Armstrong were Asher High School sweethearts and married May 16, 1961 at the home of Eugene and Valeta Odell across the South Canadian River on the Odell home place.  Tim is the youngest of 10 children born to John Lee and Blanche Elviry Phillips Odell and Edna was the third child born to Hobart and Irene Coker Armstrong of Ashe. Edna was raised in the Konawa-Asher area.

To this union they raised six children: Russell Lee, Sherry Lynn, Travis Dewayne, April Babette, Ronnie Lynn and Kelly Joe Odell. The Odells have 12 grandchildren, Rebecca Lee Odell, Taryn Amelia Postman, Nicota Montana Postman, Cody Dewayne Odell, Celeste Danielle Odell, Timmy Wayne Black, Cassandra Renea Black, Justin Clayton Hayes, Miranda Rachelle Odell, Bowdie Russell Odell, Travis Lane Odell, Kelly Joe Odell Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, Gracyn Eli Cobb, Jett Kane Black, Memory Nicole Jones, Wyatt Beau George, the upcoming birth of two more great-grandsons, Waylon Zane Knighten and Andrew Blake Herker.  

Tim and Edna Odell made their first home in Boles, Ark., where Mr. Odell worked in a furniture warehouse and caught chickens at night working at a chicken farm and Mrs. Odell was a homemaker. 

In 1962 they moved to Garland, Texas, and bought their first home at 2821 Beasley St. Mr. Odell worked as a truck driver for Affiliated Food Lines and later for the Scholle Corporation.  In his career he competed in several truck driving rodeos and took top honors and won first place at the national truck driving rodeo. Mrs. Odell was a homemaker most of her life caring for her family and always a few extra’s.
