Coalgate couple celebrates 50th anniversary

Coalgate —  

COALGATE — James and Shelby Stephens, Coalgate, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 2, 2011, with a family dinner at Pete’s Place in McAlester. Hosts for the event were the couple’s children, Jamie Anderson and Jerry Stephens.

James Stephens and Shelby Jennings were married April 14, 1961, at Coalgate.

Mr. Stephens retired in 1988 after more than 30 years of service at Southwestern Bell. Mrs. Stephens is a homemaker. They both enjoy spending time on their ranch north of Coalgate.

The couple has two children: Jamie Anderson and husband David, Ada, and Jerry Stephens and wife Stephanie, Coalgate. Grandchildren are Kelsey Anderson, Ada, Jerad Stephens and Jace Stephens, both of Coalgate.
