Ada —

Recently three of the largest school districts — Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Putnam Çity — with Class 6A schools began work to prepare a proposal to the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association recommending reclassification of high school teams based in part on long-standing athletic struggles. Class warfare between the haves and have nots is not limited to the big boys, however.

Friday night's opponent — a first-time ever meeting with OC charter school Santa Fe South — is in Ada's class as far as student population, but far from the same class on the football field.

The Saints of first-year head coach James Whitley, are more properly the Saint Bernards. The large K-9 is the mascot. Of the small squad of 38 players, 26 are frosh or sophomores.

Cartmill Field is located at SFS Middle School at 4712 S. Santa Fe, just south of 44th. Both sides offer very limited seating. Lawn chairs are highly advisable. The AHS band will not attend the game.
