The Ada Cougars will face their biggest district test to date when tradition-rich Glenpool visits Norris Field for a key 4A-2 matchup.
The Warriors entered the 2012 season ranked ahead of the Ada Cougars in just about every preseason rankings list. But Ada, which has sat in the No. 4 spot in Class 4A over the last month, enters the game unbeaten and virtually untested at 6-0 on the year, while Glenpool has surprisingly struggled to a 2-4 mark.
"Glenpool is one of the mainstays at the top in Class 4A. They have great tradition. They're a team that's going to come in here and get after us. They're not going to be intimidated by our record," said Ada head coach Matt Weber. "It will be a big game for them. They will not be intimidated by that record at all, nor will they be intimidated by coming to Ada."
The Warriors played No. 6 Douglass to a scoreless halftime draw last week before the Trojans scored two second-half touchdowns to win that contest 14-0. Glenpool has a 27-7 win over Sperry and a narrow 27-26 victory over Harrah on its 2012 resumé but has also suffered losses to Berryhill (No. 4 in Class 3A), Cascia Hall (No. 1 in Class 4A) and McLoud (No. 14 in Class 4A).
Glenpool won 4A state titles in 2002 and 2008.
