Shawnee —

New head coach Christie Jennings saw a little bit of good, a little bit of bad and a little bit of ugly during the Ada Lady Cougars' season-opening 36-29 win over Tecumseh in the first round of the 2012 Bison Invitational Thursday afternoon inside Oklahoma Baptist University's Noble contest.

The good: Ada scored the first 10 points of the game and led 16-4 midway through the second quarter before settling for a 23-8 halftime edge.

The bad: Ada saw most of its big halftime lead fade away as Tecumseh closed within three points with 46 seconds to play in the game.

The ugly: Ada followed 10 first-half turnovers with 11 more in the third quarter alone and finished with 26 for the game.

But Haley Dean hit two free throws with 23.3 seconds left to put Ada back up by five and senior Kyndel Carter iced the game by hitting two more with just 6.1 showing on the clock.
