Ada schools win national award

Chicago —

Ada City Schools has received a national award for curriculum alignment.

‘The System’  received the “Curriculum Alignment Through Curriculum Mapping Award” from the Curriculum Improvement Institute.

The award was given for leadership and advocacy of curriculum mapping as a part of the school improvement process.  The award was also presented to the Chicago Public Schools.

The award was presented by Michael Rush, Executive Director of the Institute at the national conference, June 25, in Chicago.

Paula Kedy, Director of Curriculum for Ada City Schools, accepted the award on behalf of the district.

“What an honor it is to be recognized for the diligent work our teachers have done in mapping the curriculum,” Kedy said. “The Ada City School District began implementing curriculum mapping in 2006, and while it has been a difficult process, it has resulted in the positive collaboration between grade level teachers as well as between school sites.  I am so pleased to accept this award on behalf of our teachers.”

This year’s conference was designed to help school districts prepare for the implementation of the new national core academic standards which will be implemented in the 2014-2015 school year.
